Usage characteristics
1. Fastening and adjusting
- Turnbuckles are mainly used for tightening and fixing. In the construction field, such as for fixing scaffolding, by tightening the turnbuckle, the tension between the scaffolding rods can be adjusted to make the scaffold structure more stable.
- In the power industry, it is used to tighten wires and cables to maintain the appropriate tension of wires. For example, in an overhead transmission line, when the temperature change causes the wire to expand, the turnbuckle can be used to adjust the tension to prevent the wire from being too loose or too tight.
2. Connection and limit
- Can be used as a connecting component to connect two components whose relative positions need to be adjusted. In bridge construction, the cable is used to connect the bridge with the anchor structure, and the length and tension of the cable can be fine-tuned to meet the stress requirements of the bridge structure.
- In terms of mechanical installation, it can be used for limiting position. For example, in the installation of some large equipment, the movement range of a certain part is limited, and the tightness of the limit is adjusted by the turnbuckle.
Rule parameter
1. Specifications and dimensions
- Common specifications of turnbuckles are M6, M8, M10, etc., where M indicates the nominal diameter of the thread. The screw length varies according to different use needs, generally ranging from tens of millimeters to hundreds of millimeters.
- The pitch of the turnbuckle also has a variety of standards, such as the coarse thread has a larger pitch and the fine thread has a smaller pitch. For example, the pitch of the M10 coarse thread is 1.5mm, and the pitch of the fine thread may be 1.25mm or 1mm, and the different pitch will affect the accuracy of the adjustment.
2. Carrying capacity
- Bearing capacity depends on materials, thread specifications and other factors. Generally speaking, turnbuckles made of high-strength alloy steel have a higher carrying capacity. For example, M10's high-strength turnbuckle, its axial tensile load capacity may reach several tons, the specific value needs to be determined according to the strength level of the material and the design safety factor.
Quality standard
1. Material quality
- Materials shall conform to the corresponding national standards. For example, high-quality turnbuckles may be made of 45 steel or high-strength alloy steel, and the material should have good toughness, strength and fatigue resistance. The chemical composition of steel should be within the specified range, such as carbon content, manganese content, etc., to ensure the performance of the material.
2. Machining accuracy
- High precision of thread processing. The dimensions of the thread, pitch and middle diameter shall conform to the standard. For example, the diameter deviation of the thread should be controlled within a certain range to ensure the accuracy of the match with the nut and ensure the normal adjustment function of the turnbuckle.
- The straightness of the screw of the turnbuckle is also required, and too much straightness deviation will affect its mechanical performance and smoothness of adjustment.
3. Surface treatment
- Surfaces usually need to be treated with corrosion protection. Common surface treatment methods are galvanized, chrome plating and so on. The galvanized turnbuckle has good anti-rust ability and can be used normally in humid or corrosive environment. The surface treatment layer should be uniform and firm, without peeling, falling off and other defects.
